Stick closer to me In our schizodestiny It gets so dark at night I can barely see The birds are still hunting today I get worried when you go away to The Sea Side Dog Cafe In our schizodestiny Oh, it's just one more score Until you become this drunken old whore Is that you knocking at my door? Are you coming back for more? If I could make this room feel like a home If you didn't feel so all alone Would you stay? The birds are still hunting today I get worried when you go away to The Sea Side Dog Cafe I will bite that hand that feeds me When it slaps me in the face I can go without the meal and I can lose without disgrace

Give you the gift of my absence Give you the gift of my gone away Give you my gift I'm just a raincloud but I'm a raincloud that goes away And then it's just another blue sky It's just another sunny day It's just another triple rainbow but It's a rainbow that goes away I know you never needed a song You'll never read me rights You'll never take away my sunshine You won't be taking my sunshine away Get into the sunshine You won't be taking my sunshine away Give you the gift of my absinthe Give you the gift of my gone away Give you the gift I'm just a raincloud but I'm a raincloud that goes away

We've unveiled an unsettling clock now When you flip the switch When you flip the switch A million memories of love swarm in my mind like Bees in an incubator in Parasitic fury When you flip the switch and For a moment the light is gone It's light we're never getting back This clock is mechanical This clock is a mechanical beast and We're it's feast At the 59th second At the end of the 59th second It will swoop down like a bird Hunting just above the water at The hush of midnight When you're on the roof and the slate is jumping and It will take Dry Town

LANDSHARK BLUES!

The pond beyond loves you The pond beyond is a mess without you now Toxic bars and massive scars Shallow referees standing where An unreasonable sky is giving birth to a deadly sun In your vainglorious moment Daunting silence and vigilance Miserable snow Pistol-whipped ghosts you Write a girl in adoration A song about a song Your lonely echo wheel oratory in the shed The pond beyond loves you The pond beyond can't live without you now

Just like Harry and Tonto Just like Harold and Maude Like two Emperor penguins or Two lovers abroad We are a montage of this city We are an old man's routine We are the last dance at the Valentine's Day Ball A boulevard of broken drinks I hurl a series of broken epithets While you squirm in my arms We have been slated for demolition This house is losing its charm Once you were a diamond Once you were a star There are no more white stallions There are no more shiny seaside bars The sirens were blasting You were reciting King Lear The wrecking ball was at the ready When you put a bug in my ear We used to run up those stairs To keep an eye on the kids We had our whole lives in front of us Life got behind us and hid There are no more white stallions There are no more catchers in the rye There are no more rusted skeletons There are no more wheat kings to cry There are no more white stallions

about

So, this is the end of the Al Keys Saga which reminds me of the Robert Lowell quote, "In the end there is no end; just lots of meat and drink along the way". Al's trip through a portal located in the basement of the Sea Dogs gym where he toils as a boxing trainer, connects him to multiple universes. This provides him with a new keen awareness that life goes on forever in spite of his daily drudgery and torment in Dry Town.

He is at once manic with the knowledge that he is master of his universe and the discovery that apparently there is no such thing as death, but tragically disappointed with life in Dry Town, wracked with guilt from avenging the death of his father and disturbed by the fact that there is seemingly no real rest for him this time around.

His hypnotic girlfriend has been in a drug induced trance for what seems like years, now. She's only happy when she is high and she never leaves the hotel. She stares at her shoes all day.

Al's trips to buy and sell heroin to pay their rent at the hotel and to support his estranged lover's habits are at times exuberant. He manically carouses the bars but the journeys are becoming riskier with each visit to the seediest of dive bars in Dry Town.

Al's escape is alcohol, the next trip through the portal, his memories of past victories and tragedies in the ring and at home. His hope is that one day he can save his lover from the jaws of addiction and he thinks the answer could be a trip through the portal with her, but the portal is closing fast and she's slipping away.

The sad conclusion: Al sees a story in a newspaper left at a divebar while he is waiting to sell drugs to a client. The article points out the sudden disappearance of welders in the area and it reminds him that the portal is rapidly closing. He stumbles frantically back to the Sea Castle Hotel to finally tell Miss G.I. about the portal and his plans for their escape from Dry Town only to find a note that says she has left. "Meet me there, Al. Please," it says.

She has known all along about the portal. Al runs to the basement of Sea Dogs Gym but it is too late. The room is bone dry and the portal is gone. He hoses the basement and floods it, but the portal will not appear. He is too late. She is gone. The portal is gone.

Roll credits. Cue "No More White Stallions". Al leaves the gym and walks through the pouring rain of Dry Town, headed back to the bar.
